Continuous Level Gauges – Gamma type

The Process Automation Gamma-type, non-invasive, continuous Level gauge is employed where level measurement is required on applications where the use
Being non-invasive, the measurement is unaffected by Process, Pressure, Temperature, Dust, Viscosity, Refractive Characteristics etc. and does not suffer wear the associated with invasive type measurement techniques. This results in reduced maintenance requirements & improved reliability of the measurement.
Operation is based on gamma ray absorption.
The system employs a gamma source emitting a fan shaped beam and a gamma detector, of appropriate length to match the measurement range, mounted opposite on the vessel to be measured. As the process level rises between the source and detector, the Process will proportionately absorb and block-off more of the gamma beam, providing an indication of the Process level in the vessel.
Applications
Gamma Continuos Level Gauges are used effectively in the following applications:
- Totally enclosed vessels
- High temperature vessels
- High pressure vessels
- Vacuum vessels
- Hazardous applications such as Autoclaves etc.
